No one will be allowed to ride with any type of open toe shoes or shorts. If you have questions regarding appropriate clothing or footwear, please contact the program director in advance.

Directions

SHINE is located in Sweet Hills Riding Center which is on Sweet Hollow Road in Melville. Take the Northern State Parkway exit for Route 110 South and turn right at the first light onto Old Country Road - in approximately 1/2 miles turn right onto Sweet Hollow Road. The stable is a 1/2 mile down the road on the right side.

Rules

Rules for My SHINE Program

  1. If you are going to miss a class call ahead so we can plan our horses accordingly, if you don't call you will not be allowed to make up the session.

  2. Clothing- NO shorts or shiny pants. Closed toe shoes must be worn, (NO sandals, sneakers or flip-flops). A hard sole shoe with a heel is ideal. No one will be allowed to ride in open toe shoes.
  3. If you are early for your scheduled class please wait on the picnic bench in front, do not wander around the barn. This is for the safety of our students, staff and horses.
  4. Be respectful of others riding times by being on time for your class.
  5. The sessions are 30 minutes, which includes time for mounting and dismounting.
  6. No food or drink in the indoor arena.
  7. Students will be asked to leave for the day if they are being disruptive. This is for the safety of themselves and others.
  8. If a rider's behavior is deemed to be dangerous to either themselves, the volunteers, instructors or the horse, that individual will not be permitted to participate in SHINE.
  9. Spectators are asked to stand outside the indoor arena area or in the viewing booth.
  10. You must sign in each week on the attendance sheet on the clipboard at the arena entrance when you arrive.
